Brand Strategy and Identity for weather-based outfit recommendation app, button up
A brand strategy concept that follows my ideation of an app that gives outfit recommendation based on the climate and weather. The goal was to introduce the brand concept to the market following the ideation process from creation to execution, highlighting brand engagements and initiatives and developing brand and visual identity. The target audience is fashion lovers and novices who struggle with impulsive shopping and This strategy focuses on creating a brand experience from building awareness to lasting relationships with potential users and consumers. Along with the brand strategies, I developed an interface for what the app may look like and integrating the brand identity into a digital platform.
For the brand identity, I wanted it to reflect on the brand’s core values—choosing an outfit can be fun, playful, and stress-free. The color palette draws inspiration from different accessories you may wear or use in different weather conditions like umbrellas, rain boots, and raincoats. Playing on the motifs of weather and climate, the name “button up” refers to what you may tell a family member or close friend before you head off into the weather conditions outside.

building brand awareness
To build brand awareness, Button Up will run several physical, outdoor advertisements focusing on stirring up a conversation based around the advertisements and what the product could be. These advertisements would reach and engage a variety of demographics and audience.
convincing the audience
Button Up will highlight testimonial stories through a series of home videos/polaroid pictures on social media platforms series called "Behind the Outfit.” This is to showcase the app’s individual outfit personalizations and emphasizes one of the brand’s key drivers--personal. We want to convince the audience that this is not a one size fits all scenario and that this app is for everyone, everywhere.
creating lasting relationships
Users who upload their current travel plans (plane, bus, and train tickets or hotel/lodging bookings) consistently for one year will be offered a personalized packing list tailored to their destination and wardrobe. Also, collaborating with travel companies such as AirBnB, users will be rewarded with discounted prices on their next trip and exclusive deals. This is to emphasize the brand’s goal to lessen the stress of packing, outfit selection and promote the brand’s key drivers: reliable and effortless.
